Marital History and Credentialing In the Assemblies of God, we hold the conviction that marriage is a lifelong covenant, a sacred commitment that reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church. As such, we believe that maintaining this standard is essential for those called to ministerial leadership. However, we also recognize that Scripture acknowledges certain circumstances where divorce may be warranted. A history of divorce does not automatically disqualify someone from receiving credentials.
